Pieces of what? Cause if the throwout grenades, it shoots pieces everywhere too

Pieces of the trans or pieces of the clutch?

Latter is no big deal since you’re doing a clutch anyway, former is BIG PROBLEM.

Ouch. Clutch missing?

I blew a trans years ago when a bearing came out of a race from a syncro and found it’s way between some gears as I let the clutch up at a green light.

3 holes in the trans casing, every ounce of fluid gone, car completely immobile. I’d have to go digging pretty deep, but I’m pretty sure two of the three tabs that center the input shaft were also broken clean off.

If you’re just looking at a roasty toasty clutch and a new throwout bearing, count your blessings and stop launching so hard.

Suuuuuuuuuck....

When doing this oneself, that is the worst feeling in the world, when all those pieces just drop out onto you lap, covered in oil and tears...

Right now, I dunno. Haven’t heard back from them, but they said the TOB was seized when they removed it. So if I’m reading that right, it sounds like something else exploded inside the bell housing.

Any ideas?

Got my fingers crossed for just that.

well if it was in the bellhousing, you’re safer now than if it was in the trans itself. Likely it was parts of the bearing or fork, or maybe clutch material.

I feel ya. Apparently, someone put 10W30 in my ATF. Waiting to see if it’s FUBAR’d.
